Privacy Policy

What ConvertCalculate collects and what it does not: the values you type stay in your browser, what our server logs hold, the cookies analytics sets, and how to ask us to delete anything.

This policy explains what convertcalculate.com (“the site”, “we”, “us”) does with information when you visit. It is written to be read rather than to be technically unchallengeable, so if anything here is unclear, write to hello@convertcalculate.com and we will explain it properly.

The short version

  • The numbers you type into a calculator never leave your browser. There is no form submission and no server round trip — the arithmetic runs on your own device.
  • We do not ask you to create an account, and there is nothing to sign up for.
  • We use Google Analytics, through Google Tag Manager, to see which pages are used. That sets cookies.
  • Some links to products are affiliate links. Following one takes you to a retailer who has their own policy.

What the calculators do with your input

Every calculator, converter and quiz on this site runs in JavaScript in your browser. Your weight, your salary, your last period date, your loan amount: these are processed on your device and are not transmitted to us, stored by us, or visible to us. Close the tab and they are gone. This is not a promise about our good intentions — it is how the tools are built, and you can confirm it in your browser's network inspector.

Quiz answers work the same way. The participant counts shown on quiz pages are historical totals, not a live count of individual visits, and no record is kept of what any particular person answered.

What your browser stores on your own device

Two features remember a preference locally, using your browser's storage rather than a cookie sent to us:

  • the list of cities you add to the world clock;
  • whether you have turned tool sounds on or off.

Both stay on that device, are not readable by us, and are removed if you clear site data in your browser.

Server logs

Like any web server, ours records a line for each request: the IP address, the page requested, the time, the referring page and the browser's user-agent string. These logs exist for security and for diagnosing faults. They are not used to build a profile of you, are not sold or shared, and are kept only as long as they are useful for that purpose.

Analytics and cookies

We load Google Tag Manager, which in turn loads Google Analytics. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser so it can tell a returning visitor from a new one and report aggregate figures — which pages are popular, roughly where in the world visitors are, which devices they use. We look at totals and trends; we do not attempt to identify individuals, and we have no interest in doing so.

If you would rather not be measured at all, any of these works: a browser that blocks trackers, an ad or tracker blocking extension, Google's own Analytics opt-out add-on, or clearing cookies for this site. Nothing on the site breaks if you block analytics.

We do not use cookies to show you advertising, and we do not run a remarketing or ad-personalisation tag.

Affiliate links

Product suggestions at the end of a quiz may be affiliate links, which means the retailer pays us a small commission if you buy something after following one. It costs you nothing extra and it does not change which products a quiz recommends. Following such a link hands you over to that retailer, whose own privacy policy and cookies then apply — we receive no information about what you look at or buy there beyond, in some cases, an anonymous confirmation that a sale happened.

Things we do not do

  • We do not sell, rent or trade personal information.
  • We do not run a newsletter or send marketing email.
  • We do not use your data to train machine learning models.
  • We do not knowingly collect anything from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, write to us and we will delete it.

If you write to us

Email sent to hello@convertcalculate.com — a correction, a suggestion, a guest post pitch — is kept in our mailbox so we can reply and keep track of the conversation. We use it for that and nothing else.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, or to object to how it is used. In India these rights come from the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023; in the UK and EU from the UK GDPR and GDPR; in California from the CCPA.

In practice we hold very little that could identify you — server logs, plus any email you have sent us. Write to hello@convertcalculate.com and we will tell you what there is and remove it on request. We aim to reply within 30 days and we do not charge for this.

For anything held by Google Analytics rather than by us, Google's privacy policy applies and your data can be managed through your Google account.

Changes to this policy

If what we do changes, this page changes, and the date at the top moves. There is no mailing list to notify, so the date is the honest signal — if it has not moved, nothing has.
